I wanted the combination of a smart sensor (depth + speed in one through-hull), a non-proprietary NMEA 2000 connection, and a good display - without spending a fortune. The Furuno FI-50 series is a perfect fit. I shopped Garmin, Raymarine (proprietary network or analog), Simrad (ugly!), and Tacktick - Furuno is the best, in my opinion. The display (FI-504) is large, bright, and easy to use. I would give it 5 stars but for the built-in timer. Sailboat racers need a timer that keeps cycling the same interval (often 5 minutes). This one will count down but then start counting back UP from zero. Then again, I didn't buy it for the timer!

Installed 3 new displays, Wind, Multi Sensor and Digital Depth+. Units easily connect to each other and my NavNet 3D system. There is a lot of data to choose form when using the Digital Depth and Multi-displays.
