Garmin Vhf 200 Radio Black

VHF 200 Radio - Black

The Garmin VHF 200 marine receiver provides radio communication and features intuitive design to enhance convenience and safety to mariners worldwide. The VHF 200 comes standard with a two-way hailer system and is also NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 compliant to offer greater onboard flexibility and functionality.

Communicate with Confidence
With up to 25 watts of transmit power at your fingertips, you'll be able to stay in touch anywhere on the water. The VHF 200 comes standard with a removable speaker microphone and a built-in 20-watt public address (hailer) system that can be connected to a hailer horn or external speaker on the deck or tower. The VHF 200 also supports one optional wired GHS 10 hand-set microphone that allows full radio control from a remote location. So no matter where you are or where you're heading, you'll always have a line of communication open to make sure every voyage is a safer voyage.

Safety First
The Garmin VHF 200 provides full Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capability via NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 connectivity. Should trouble arise, DSC provides distress calls with the push of a button. And if your boat is already interfaced with a compatible GPS chartplotter, you'll get mayday signaling and a digital broadcast of your boat's position. The VHF 200 also features NOAA weather alerts and Position Tracking, which allows a mariner to locate and keep tabs on up to three other boats in the area.

At-A-Glance Information
The VHF 200 has a simple user interface that's easy to read while on the go so you'll always have the right information at the right time. In addition to dedicated buttons and knobs for ease of use, the VHF 200 features three soft keys linked to onscreen menus that allow boaters to see and select the information they want. The VHF 200 also offers premium sound quality so every message is loud and clear. And to make sure the data stands out, the information is available on a 3.2-inch display - the largest screen available in its class.

Detailed Design
The VHF 200 is ready to take on the elements. And to simplify the installation process, it can also be mounted in a variety of configurations. With removable front caps, the VHF 200 can be easily added in cockpit consoles or cabin bulkheads. It's the only front flush-mounting capable marine radio available on the market today, which makes the VHF 200 as flexible as it is functional. It's made to last with rugged design that's also submersible (IPX7 standards), so you'll get a full-featured marine receiver that's ready to go in a compact fixed-mount design.

It's Garmin, so it's good. But it could be better. July 17, 2016
Reviewer: Jerry D. from Narragansett Bay, RI
I bought this for 2 reasons. The name/quality and the fact that it fit the same hole of the old one.
I haven't had it long but it seems to be a good unit and the basic functions are useful. The extreme bells and whistles are a bit much on a 40' boat.
I like the unit and will keep it and would recommend it.
The issues are 2 so far...
The mic does not make a confirming sound when keyed and there is no "light" on the unit. With most mic switches, there is a sound or a click in the audio or a sensation of a click in the button of the mic. This unit has no audible telltale and only the faintest hint of a sensation in the actual button which hardly moves in at all. There is a display icon that appears but you have to be looking right at it to notice it amidst all the other black lackluster data on the display.
Why do manufacturers have to put either nothing or everything in their products? I do not need my VHF to show me my location when my GPS is doing it already.

Garmin VHF 200 nice unit April 30, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Gig Harbor, Wa.USA
I bought two of these for the lower helm and flying bridge and linked them to my boat's NMEA 2000 network. They work great. Hodges had the very best price and they were shipped the next day. I could not be happier with the purchase.
