The previous generation was only capable of 2 Channels + Subwoofers. This newer model offers true 4 channel output. At speed the amp just doesn't get loud enough no matter how the gain and volume is set. While stationary or at 5mph cruise this amp is great. This newer version allows the volume remote to turn the amp off with a typical "click" from the knob. The previous Gen knob did not make any click. Power draw is low enough that we can listen to music at a reasonable volume for hours without killing batteries. The fuse holder on this newer model is slightly improved as well. I should note this amp is being used in a standalone application. We stream music via our phones using an inexpensive Motorola Bluetooth adapter. The Bluetooth adapter has a mini headphone output that I run a short cable to the amp input. This way there is no head unit to worry about. The phones can stay out of harms way which is a plus. All in all this is an excellent little setup.
