I purchased this compass to replace a factory supplied Danforth compass on my Maxum 2800 which had lost its liquid fill. Apparently Danforth no longer makes an exact replacement. The Ritchie is not an exact fit but was of similar size and shape and was less expensive than any of the other possible replacements and appears to have a better warranty. I do not use a compass for navigation very often but the Ritchie appears to be sufficient for my needs and seems well made.
