Very Nice Autopilot August 9, 2014
Reviewer: SGIDave from FL/GA
I estimate actual installation time to be 8-10 hours for me, an amateur technician.  That included cutting an opening over the steering gear/rudder area to allow placement of a 10 x 24 hatch to allow installation of the rudder feedback piece.  Some installations will not use that piece.

Functionally this is a VERY nice AP.  I had an earlier Sportpilot unit on a C-dory type boat.  That was a good unit too, however the Evolution is a significant improvement.  The P70R with the rotary knob makes changing course very easy and precise.  It also has built in patterns which were not available in the previous unit.  Installation of this newer unit is made easier since it uses Raymarine's version of NMEA 2000 called SeatalkNG so no messing with the TINY wires used in the NMEA 0183 protocol.  It is really plug and play.  It interfaced with the Garmin 740s seamlessly and accepts routes and other info without a hitch.

Overall I'm very pleased with this unit and give it 5 stars.

I was able to install the Sport Pilot myself with no problems.  Seems to work well so far.
