I searched for months for the best price and Hodges beat everyone when it came to price and shipping.
Now the VHF: I have been upgrading my 10 year old electronics. My boat had the Ray240 so this was a fairly easy install. The cord on the 10 year old Ray240 fell apart from UV’s. This caused the interior wires to become exposed and become brittle, eventually some of the broke. Raymarine would replace the cord for $75 but it was time to update.
The Ray260 is a really nice upgrade. I like that I can now unplug the handset if I don’t want to leave it exposed for sunlight or theft. The hardest part of the installation was converting from SeaTalk-1 to SeaTalk-ng. I love that having the handset really frees up space at my helm. The external speak is plenty loud. I wish it had a volume adjustment knob so I could quickly turn up the volume if there is something interesting I’d like to listen to.
