I like and have owned Standard / Horizon radios for over 30 years; they don't let me down. This model is (1) easy to see and adjust (2) LOUD if you need it to be, and (3) very easy to "jump" channels with. The key entry is great. The audio is natural and clear...not clipped to be hi or low in pitch...I'm delighted with it. My application is a noisy helm near the engine...and it works GREAT.

I purchased a Standard Horizon Gx5500 VHF for my 22 ft bay boat. The radio was mounted in the box below the T-top,awater proof command mike was mounted outside the box and a Morad antennae was mounted on the top. The install took about 3 1/2 hrs. Running wires through the T-top tubing was a bit difficult. The end result was worth it! The radio is excellent both reception and broadcast. The audio is more clear than my previous Icom VHF.Oh the hailer/ foghorn is under the radio box.
