excellent backup device |

I bought the HX850S as a backup to my fixed vhf and chartplotter. On a recent passage from San Francisco to Marina del Rey my tillerpilot shorted and took down the electrical system. The gps on the HX850S allowed me to navigate in poor visibility and got me safely to port.

The best handheld radio I ever used |

This radio has it all. It's waterproof, very light, floats, has built in gps, and a full 6 watts of power. This radio has all the enchanced dsc features of a 25 watt installed unit and works extremely well.
Standard Horizon has done it again.

My friends have radio envy. Probably half of the 10 people I have let borrow it to try it out have ordered one. Performance is excellent and it is easy to use. A very good product
