Johnson Marine started as a hobby in 1958 when Curt Johnson Jr. developed the Handy Lock Turnbuckle. Six years of part-time marketing led to Curt Jr. resigning his position as manager of engineering for a major machinery manufacturer to develop a line of stainless steel turnbuckles and fittings in 1964. The line was readily accepted by many major sailboat OEM's, and Johnson's continuing ability to develop, manufacture and distribute a superior product, has made Johnson Marine the industry's number one supplier of Life Line fittings. Innovation and dedication to excellence are the cornerstones of the family-owned and run business, where today sons Burt (CEO) and Curt III (President) continue the tradition.
